Shadé Edwards Lawyer
Shadé Edwards is a Lawyer at Turnpenney Milne LLP, practising exclusively in employment law and workplace investigations.
She acts for both employers and employees on a wide range of workplace issues. For employers, she serves as a trusted advisor on a range of day-to-day HR management issues, including contracts, policies, occupational health and safety, and broader risk-mitigation strategies. Her approach is proactive and pragmatic, focused on adding value to her clients’ businesses by aligning legal advice with operational realities and helping them prevent issues before they escalate.
For employees, Shadé provides guidance through workplace disputes, investigations, and terminations, including wrongful dismissal and human rights claims.
Shadé also conducts workplace investigations as a neutral, trauma-informed investigator in cases involving allegations of discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment.
As an advocate, she has appeared before the courts, tribunals and other administrative boards.
A regular contributor to firm publications and external outlets, Shadé has written on employment, human rights and litigation topics, and is the Newsletter Editor for the Ontario Bar Association’s Constitutional, Civil Liberties, and Human Rights Law Section.
Called to the Ontario Bar in 2023, Shadé began her career in civil and commercial litigation at a national full-service law firm before shifting her focus to workplace law. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law (2022) and an Honours B.A. with high distinction from the University of Toronto (2019), where she majored in Criminology and Canadian Studies and minored in Sociology. She is a mentor with the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and a Board Member of the Community Legal Clinic of York Region.
