Asha Rampersad Partner
Asha is an experienced employment lawyer and investigator with a focus on human rights litigation, disability management and conducting complex workplace investigations, delivering training and providing employment advice to a wide variety of employers and employees.
She has represented major crown corporations, municipalities and large private sector clients in grievance arbitration proceedings and has worked in collaboration with their human resources teams to roll out strategic equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Asha has conducted numerous sensitive, high profile investigations with a trauma-informed approach for provincially and federally regulated employers, universities, colleges, school boards, police services, municipalities, Indigenous employers, the private sector and not-for-profit organizations.
Asha is a highly sought-after speaker and trainer who has been selected to speak at leading employment, labour, human rights and investigation conferences. For 14 years she also taught a Constitutional Law course at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Asha has been quoted in the Law Times regarding an employer’s Duty to Investigate and has been published extensively in various newsletters and magazines. She has appeared as a guest expert on two occasions on CBC Radio.
Through her own lived experience, Asha has a strong background in advocating for children and their disability accommodations, and has conducted training within ministries, childcare centres and schools. This work has enhanced her ability to develop unique, creative solutions for clients, helping resolve matters quickly and efficiently.
Asha was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008. She obtained her law degree from the University of Windsor, graduating in the top 15% of her law class and received an Award of Excellence in Labour, Employment and Administrative Law.
While she loves to work, Asha is also a passionate extrovert who loves exploring the world and meeting new people. When the right music comes on, you can usually find her on the dance floor.
