Robin Nyamekye is an Associate at Turnpenney Milne LLP practising in workplace investigations, assessments and employment law.

Robin conducts investigations for clients across sectors, including healthcare, education, government, non-profit and corporate environments, in both federal and provincial jurisdictions. She has significant experience in investigations involving anti-Black racism, discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment, and applies a trauma-informed lens to her work. Robin also assists clients with workplace assessments and restoration, and is recognized for her professionalism and ability to navigate complex, sensitive matters with clarity and fairness.

In her employment law practice, Robin advises employees on workplace disputes and terminations. She also advises employers, drawing on her investigation and litigation background to identify risks and provide practical, strategic guidance.

Robin regularly contributes to the firm’s blog and writes for external publications. She has authored pieces for Canadian HR Reporter and Human Resource Development Review (HRDR) and was interviewed by Canadian HR Reporter in 2024 on the duty to investigate post-employment.

Before joining Turnpenney Milne LLP, Robin practised complex civil litigation at a leading firm, representing clients in high-stakes commercial, regulatory and professional discipline disputes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Robin worked as a caseworker in the housing rights division at Parkdale Community Legal Services, where she represented low-income clients in mediations and virtual hearings. Prior to law school, Robin was a research and policy intern at the City of Toronto’s Confronting Anti-Black Racism Unit, supporting the implementation of its inaugural action plan.

Robin is a member of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) and the Ontario Bar Association. She completed her JD at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2022 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2023.

Outside of practice, Robin enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, catching up on reality television and trying out new recipes. She is also committed to mentoring high school students from marginalized communities interested in careers in law.
