Navigating Workplace Investigations: Best Practices

This course trains participants to ensure that legal requirements are met at every stage of the investigation process from the receipt of a complaint to the review of a final report and assessment of necessary post-investigations responses.

Delivered over the course of two-days (or four half-days), this interactive workshop combines focused instruction, case studies, and interactive exercises to enable participants to:

• Apply applicable law and policy
• Identify the necessary steps in an investigation
• Ensure procedural fairness
• Take steps to counter their own implicit bias
• Evaluate and weigh evidence
• Assess credibility
• Write effective reports
• Identify defensible findings in reports
• Determine and take appropriate action post-investigation

This course is suitable for professionals who conduct internal investigations as well as those responsible for receiving complaints, instructing investigators, reviewing investigation reports, and/or assessing appropriate responses to substantiated complaints.
