This course trains participants to ensure that legal requirements are met at every stage of the investigation process from the receipt of a complaint to the review of a final report and assessment of necessary post-investigations responses.
Delivered over the course of two-days (or four half-days), this interactive workshop combines focused instruction, case studies, and interactive exercises to enable participants to:
- Apply applicable law and policy
- Identify the necessary steps in an investigation
- Ensure procedural fairness
- Take steps to counter their own implicit bias
- Evaluate and weigh evidence
- Assess credibility
- Write effective reports
- Identify defensible findings in reports
- Determine and take appropriate action post-investigation
This course is suitable for professionals who conduct internal investigations as well as those responsible for receiving complaints, instructing investigators, reviewing investigation reports, and/or assessing appropriate responses to substantiated complaints.
