Supervisory Training: The Leadership & Legal Toolkit
People don’t quit jobs; they leave bad managers
While employee turnover is always more complex than a single cause, supervisors undeniably shape the day-to-day employee experience. They are the organization’s front line – the first to navigate conflict, accommodation requests, attendance issues, performance concerns, and the countless interpersonal dynamics that influence workplace culture.
Equipping supervisors with the skills to respond effectively and sensitively to these challenges is essential. Doing so reduces organizational risk, strengthens employee support, and helps prevent avoidable legal and operational consequences.
This three-day program blends instructor-led sessions, interactive case studies, and hands-on practise in realistic scenarios. By the end, participants will be able to:
- Effectively manage the employment relationship from recruitment to termination
- Understand and meet key supervisory obligations under human rights, accessibility, and occupational health and safety legislation
- Recognize the importance of effective, ongoing coaching and constructive feedback
- Manage performance and attendance while respecting human rights obligations
- Respond appropriately to accommodation needs related to disability, family status, and religion
- Apply progressive discipline, identify high-risk terminations, and determine when termination is warranted
- Respond to incivility and harassment and promote psychological safety
