Thaniya is a zealous and compassionate advocate. Prior to joining Turnpenney Milne LLP, Thaniya completed her articles as a judicial law clerk at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and Divisional Court, where she assisted judges with a variety of civil, criminal, and family matters.
Thaniya graduated with her Juris Doctor from Windsor Law and was called to the Bar in 2024. During law school she volunteered with the John Howard Society of Niagara as a justice services program facilitator, leading workshops in anger awareness. Thaniya was awarded a social justice fellowship during her first year and used the opportunity to work at the South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario. After working as a summer student, Thaniya served on the Board of Directors for two years as the student board member. She also competed in the Wilson Moot, where her team placed top three for their facta.
Thaniya completed a dual degree business program earning her BBA from Brock University and a BSc in Management from the European Business School in Germany. Prior to law school and drawing on her co-op experience in human resources in the automotive/manufacturing sector, Thaniya worked in recruitment and social media at Toyota Motor Manufacturing.
Thaniya is currently part of NextNiagara, an advisory committee to the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, composed young professionals. Outside of law, Thaniya considers herself a foodie and enjoys hiking, kayaking, and doing CrossFit.
