Update on Provision of Legal Services During COVID-19

We wanted to take this time to update our clients and broader community regarding how we are adapting our practices and methods of providing legal services during this challenging period. We continue to provide our services to employers and employees alike, with respect to any issues that pertain to their workplaces, and their jobs. We are facing unprecedented times, which are having a significant impact on the health of workplaces. We are here to help.

Turnpenney Milne LLP continues to provide our same high standard of services during this time, with some necessary variations. All of our lawyers and staff have mobilized quickly such that we are all able to work remotely. We have quickly integrated new methods of communication and are leaning into the benefits of technology that will allow us to maintain our high standards of service for as long as we need to. Our commitment remains to provide pragmatic, balanced and timely advice in uncertain times.

Workplace investigations continue, even in these trying times, and our firm has adapted our processes to ensure the safety of our lawyers, our clients, parties, witnesses and the variety of stakeholders in an investigation. Our investigators are working remotely, and we have implemented new technology to conduct interviews remotely while still allowing us to maintain best practices.

We are also continuing to offer a full suite of remedial assistance, including training, mediation, and facilitation services, as well as workplace restoration. Our training services include programs on respectful workplaces, harassment and discrimination, and on how to conduct fair and defensible investigations. While these services may be provided remotely for the time being, they remain robust and effective, and we will continue to adapt them as needed.

The firm has created a number of COVID-19 resources for our clients. This information includes updates on statutory leave provisions, government programs, and employment information. Our updated COVID-19 employment information can be found here https://www.turnpenneymilne.ca/blog/ on our blog.

Through all of this, we are maintaining the high standards and quality of legal advice, investigative services, and training/mediation assistance that we are known for. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, so will we, and we look forward to continuing to serve our clients and community as best we can.
