Consultations

If you are experiencing difficulty with your employer or you have been terminated it is important to know your rights.  It is crucial that you seek independent legal advice prior to taking any steps.

Many employees are not aware of what they are actually entitled to upon termination and end up accepting significantly less than what they are entitled to at law. We provide consultation and advice on severance packages and in situations where employees have been terminated without any payment for just cause.

We also routinely meet with individuals who are experiencing difficulties in their workplace.  In many cases these issues relate to discrimination and harassment or changes being made that affect their employment.

We typically book an hour to meet with you and review your current circumstances.  In this meeting you will need to bring the termination letter (if applicable), any employment contracts that you signed while working, and any other relevant documents that may affect your overall entitlement.  For example, those relevant documents may include notes or evidence of discrimination, bullying or harassment, your pay stub showing improperly calculated vacation, proof of overtime worked but not paid.  During the consultation we review the events leading up to the termination, get an understanding of the basis for the termination and advise you regarding next steps.

Our recommendations could include providing you with a strategy or suggestions on how you should proceed, and how we can be of assistance in the process.  We may also recommend that we become involved in the process in an attempt to resolve the outstanding issues.
